Parents are exceptionally meticulous about their kids’ party. Parents would want to have their say on anything that goes on during the party. Parents want to share their input during the planning stage, and they want a big role in the execution part. Because the theme party is a big deal, the planners should make it a blast.
Theme birthdays are the trickiest to pull off. The theme should be clear to all the guests early on, so that they can start planning for their outfit. You risk having to deal with guests that don’t know about the theme when they show up. With ample planning, birthday party planning can be a piece of cake, really. If you’re pitching in and planning a theme birthday party for kids, here are some recommendations.
1. Confer With the Celebrant and the Parents
The kids must be able to relate to the theme. Some kids have tastes that are different from others. Most of all, the celebrant must be able to relate to the theme, especially the gender-specific themes. A good move is to make sure the celebrant has told you about which characters he or she likes best. The celebrant has a lot to say about what he or she wants for the party.
If you’re on a rush, you can simply go for a generic theme and base the whole decor and the food on the color theme. Girls love colors like pink, while boys like blue.
2. Don’t Forget the Party Favors
A party favor is a must for every kid that attends a party. If the party is a princess party, the wrapping of the favors should at least be according to the color scheme of the theme. Boys should be able to receive a favor too, even if the party is girl-themed. Boys that attend a princess party are not supposed to receive tiaras or fairy wands. For boys, prepare something that one of the Disney princes would wear, like a sword or a shield. A crown is also fitting for little boys, as long as the design is not too girly.
3. Finalize the Food Menu
The party should never lack sustenance in any way. Any party can be a success if the food is good. Grown ups should not feel left out in terms of the prepared menu. Grilled food can be an option if the weather allows grilling in the backyard. Hot dogs can be grilled for the kids, while the parents can enjoy sirloin steaks. Corn on the cob is also a staple if you have the grill going. Some food items include corn on the cob, salad and pies. Someone can be in charge of distributing drinks.
